Yesterday I went to the New York State Fair in Syracuse, New York with my son and his family. I suppose a lot of people don't associate New York and State Fairs, but it was actually a great fair. If you scroll back through some of my recent blog posts, you will see that upstate New York is a patchwork of beautiful farms nestled in rolling hills and bordered by forests.
I didn't take a lot of great pictures, but a few fun ones. The dairy exhibit features brand new calves every day -- five were born yesterday, the last day of the fair. I thought of my beautiful and tiny grandson Ari when I saw these newborns, who come into the world a bit bigger than humans -- somewhere between 70 and 100 pounds, and as much as 130!
Here is the Haffner family checking out the newborn calves:

There was also a butter sculpture that was pretty cool:

And there was a cool mural that was about 300 feet long. They added one portrait each day of the Fair; since yesterday was the last day, we got to watch an artist spray-painting the last portrait. The theme was "Heroes of the Pandemic."
And, of course, there were rides, including this terrifying one which my grandkids embraced:
It was a perfect day to go to a State Fair - temperatures in the low 70's, partly cloudy skies:

Here is a view from the top of the Ferris Wheel:
And I got to ride on the Ferris Wheel with the two prettiest girls at the fair. Admittedly, they are a tad bit goofy:
